What does treatment entail?
The initial appointment takes approximately 1hr 15mins/1hr.30mins. This allows time to gain a full health profile and a treatment plan is formulated.
Follow up appointments tend to last from 45 mins to an hour.
Acupunture is painless and involes very fine sterile needles which may be left in place from a few seconds up to 20 minutes.
During the treatment, patients commonly experience a feeling of pleasant relaxation and heaviness of the limbs. Generally you will be left to relax in a quiet warm room with needles in place on a comfortable treatment couch with a light blanket.
This allows for relaxation but you won't be left unattended.
Sometimes a treatment may incorporated massage, fire cupping or perhaps the needles may be gently warmed by a herbal substance known as moxa which is applied to the end of the needle and lit, or the area may be warmed by an
infra- red heat lamp

At the start of a treatment program the appointments tend to be fairy close together either twice weekly or once per week ,as you improve treatments are spaced out to fortnightly or monthly.
Some patients chose to come in for regular “top - ups” perhaps once every couple of months .
The speed of “improvement” is highly variable and depends on many factors such as general health, medication, age etc .
At the very least you are recommended to try three sessions as if it is going to work for you an improvement is usually starting to happen by the third treatment.
You will not be pressurised into paying for a lengthy course of treatment, patients generally pay their fee after each session and you can chose to stop a course of treatment at any time.
If you are confident about booking a block of treatments we do offer a small discount on prepaid blocks of three or six treatments.
If you do not like the idea of needles!
Acupuncture can be applied with a low level laser
or perhaps NST Bowen or Chinese Herbal Medicine would suit you better
